The Blind Dog: Mocha’s Journey with Sards
When I rescued Mocha in 2015, I had no idea how much of an impact she would have in my life. She is my first dog, my first (fur) baby, and has been by my side for every big chapter in my life. She was there by my side when I got my first big girl job after graduating, cuddled me when I jumped from job to job, moved across the country, and started a completely new career. I have never had to cry alone these past seven (soon-to-be eight!) years because she has always been with me. For those

Every year I would attend Fanime in San Jose, California with my friends and for the first time in a handful of years, none of us were able to attend. (Not that we could anyway, because the convention – like many others – was canceled!) I found myself becoming even more of

Review: Vograce – Custom Acrylic Binder Clips
Vograce Custom Acrylic Binder Clips Rating: ★★★★☆ Create custom acrylic binder clips on Vograce One big, recurring theme in my life is that I pick up new hobbies all the time. While there may be one overarching theme (ie. it falls under the “creative” umbrella), I never stick to one particular medium. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at creating physical products, but never really knew where to start. I want to make things that are practical and be utilized every day by the people I love. Vograce has been on my radar for a while now. They’re a professional

“Releasing the Arrow,” 2021. Procreate. 11″ x 17″. Any time someone asks me how I’ve learned to cope and deal with my trauma, one of the first things I recommend them is Thich Nhat Hanh’s “No Mud, No Lotus: The Art of Transforming Suffering.” It’s only about 128 pages and relatively easy to get through! When I first picked it up in 2018, I would read pages in between meetings with my real estate agent, packing up my things, and getting ready to leave the one state that had only ever been my home. I have a tendency to over

Review: innisfree Green Cafe
innisfree Green Cafe Rating: ★★★★☆ Address: 15 Myeongdong-gil, Myeongdong 1(il)-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul, South KoreaHours of Operations: Monday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM When I started researching for things to do in Seoul, I came to the realization that Seoul has A LOT of aesthetically beautiful cafes. Like, every single restaurant, cafe, store, etc. was breathtaking to look at online. From Wikipedia, innisfree is a naturalism-oriented cosmetics brand created by Amore Pacific in 2000 and is known for being South Korea’s first all-natural brand. I’ve purchased a few of their products online and enjoyed using them, so when I found this

South Korea: James Jean – Eternal Journey
I’ve been following James Jean for a few years now. The first time I discovered his work was when I saw the cover for Gerard Way’s The Umbrella Academy. Something about the style was so distinct, dark, and alluring – I fell in love with it almost immediately. I was disappointed, of course, when I realized that he was only the cover artist and didn’t draw the comics himself. This segued into me trying to find more of his work. I found out he was also the cover artist for Fables. If I’m being completely honest, I almost started collecting

Boston Commons: Sabrina
To be honest, I haven’t been able to make much progress with my photography since I moved to Boston over a year ago. One of the best ways for me to practice is to use my hang outs with friends as an excuse. Most of the time, my friends are game! Sabrina and I met when I first moved to Boston in 2018. She’s also from California and is doing her MD-PhD here – a super smart gal! Earlier this month, I asked Sabrina if she wanted to get some food and hang out. This girl loves to eat as

It comes in waves.
“Talking to you is really refreshing.” I smile and nod, laugh a little, and tuck my hair behind my ear. Someone said this to me months ago and I still don’t know what the proper response to that is. “If I was in your position, I don’t know if I would’ve been able to handle it with as much grace as you have. I don’t know if I’d be able to smile or laugh like you do.” I never know what to say to this either. It’s a sentiment I hear pretty often. People always comment that I’m “strong.” I don’t

Windansea Beach: Rachel
For those who know me, you’ll know that Rachel and I go way, way back. I’ve known this girl for about half of my life. We’ve known each other since our Geocities/Digimon shrine days and became online BFFs. We actually lived across the country from one another. (I was in California and she was in North Carolina!) We’ve kept in close contact after all these years and, at one point, she moved to California. Because I was doing my undergraduate degree in SoCal (and she lived in Los Angeles), we were finally able to bring our online friendship into reality.
