To be honest, I haven’t been able to make much progress with my photography since I moved to Boston over a year ago. One of the best ways for me to practice is to use my hang outs with friends as an excuse. Most of the time, my friends are game!
Sabrina and I met when I first moved to Boston in 2018. She’s also from California and is doing her MD-PhD here – a super smart gal!
Earlier this month, I asked Sabrina if she wanted to get some food and hang out. This girl loves to eat as much as I do, so she was down to clown. Thankfully she was also ok with me taking her photos. We started off in the Boston Commons as we wanted to do something outdoors.
Sabrina didn’t have too much experience with getting her photo taken, but she was absolutely perfect! I gave her some basic pointers that I have picked up through my own amateur cosplay modeling and she learned very quickly.
We met up in the afternoon for this shoot, which was perfect because I am a total sucker for golden hour. This winter has beenpretty mild, so we were able to get away with a photo set that felt more “fall” and less “winter.”
To be honest, I wasn’t too sure how the pictures would turn out (we didn’t discuss outfit ideas and we kind of just said we’d play things by ear), but I’m actually pretty happy with the results.
The whole vibe feels very YesStyle or like a Taiwanese/Korean drama to me, which I absolute, positively adore.
I think I learned a lot while shooting with her (and definitely a lot with editing them a year later!), so I’d love to shoot with Sabrina again to see how much further I’ve progressed.
