New year, new brows! 💅

I've always had super sparse/thin brows growing up and people are often surprised to hear that it wasn't from over tweezing or waxing - I was just born with it. 🥹 As someone who was constantly made fun of for having no brows, this has been an insecurity of mine for a good chunk of my life. I was envious of people who didn't have to draw their brows in, but was hesitant to get my eyebrows microbladed. For one, I have incredibly oily skin. Secondly, I wanted the strokes to look natural. Based on my research, the technology for semi-permanent makeup hadn't reached what I wanted to achieve yet.

Well, I'm really glad that I waited. I discovered @browsbyminhwa last year and fell in love with her style. She's using a new technique called "wispy brows" (or nano brows), which uses a smaller needle, is more precise, and much friendlier to oily skin. The recovery time is about 4 weeks and touch-ups are needed every 6-12 months.

I flew all the way from Boston to Denver, CO just to get them done by Minhwa and I'm so happy with my results. I literally started to tear up on my Lyft ride home from my appointment because they looked so natural. I'm about 3 weeks into the healing process and I am SO happy with it. I can't wait to see what they'll look like fully healed because they look amazing right now! I did NOT use any makeup on my brows in this photo, it's exactly how they look IRL. I started this drawing way back in January, but finally managed to finish it right before the new year! If I hadn't, I wouldve had to wait to post this for another 12 years. 😛 This is probably my last illustration of 2022, but my resolution (as always) is to draw more in the new year.

Christmas is over which means I can start sharing some of the personal art I've been working on! I've only ever felt like I should post my digital pieces, but I've really been exploring making products so I thought to myself, "well... why the hell not?"

These are binder clips (turned into chip clip/bag clips) that I made through @vograce_official ! The process was SUPER easy, the product came in quite quickly, and I'm pretty pleased with the result. These were a test batch that I made and they were such a hit with family and friends that people have been asking for more. 🎉

Ending 2022 with an illustration of my wife, Makima! It's been a long, long time since I've done any sort of character illustration. Tbh I've felt very stagnant in my art style, so I've been playing around with line art again and experimenting with something different.

Most of my focus has been on my career (especially for the past year), so I haven't had as much time doing the things I really enjoy. No time for video games, no time for anime (I only watch subs and it takes too much brain power after work), no time for art, and not even any time for fanfiction (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
.

This past weekend @julapeno visited me in Boston and we finally got to have an IRL makeup session. 🥺 I ended up looking like an extra from a K-drama, but it's been a while since I've had a chance to play around with makeup, so I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I'm wearing @honeycolor_official's Moonbeam in Soul Green. They looked pretty natural in normal lighting, so I had to take some photos with my ring light to show how the colors actually look.
