Located in Garden Grove (about 10 minutes or so away from Disneyland!) is an organic, soft-serve ice cream shop called Mr. Matcha. They serve a variety of different things (ie. cold and hot drinks, sundaes, etc.) on their menu, but the main reason why my friends and I wanted to go was to have some of that delicious matcha ice cream! We had actually gone two nights before (Friday), but I didn’t have my camera with me and I was stuffed from Thai food, so… I made everyone come here again so that could finally enjoy it. Hehe.

The menu prices are pretty reasonable imo. The soft serve is around $4.95, not including tax. You can order it in three different flavors: 1) matcha, 2) black sesame, or 3) swirl (half matcha, half black sesame). I’m not the biggest fan of black sesame, so I opted for the generic and classic matcha flavor.

The decor of the shop is insanely cute and very hip! I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t grab more pictures, but the interior is clean and sleek. There were some tables to sit at inside, along with a TV that displayed their menu and prices. Around the corner of the register is a wood wall with a very Instagrammable neon sign. Even though we got there early, there were still a few people ahead of us so we had to queue up to take pictures. LOL.

The other girls all ordered drinks and everything came out in a timely manner. Since the weather was beautiful, we decided to sit outside.

It was great to have a moment to relax  and just catch up. Tiff introduced us to her really good friend (also named Tiffany) and we all had a blast discussing weekend plans, things we were up to, and how much food we were planning to shove into our mouths later that day.

I really liked my matcha soft serve. As I’ve gotten older, my palate has really come to like and crave matcha. Not too sure why that is! I thought the flavor was great – not too strong and definitely not too sweet. Just the perfect amount. The charcoal cone I got with it was also fantastic and definitely fell under #AESTHETICS.

Parking is decent. There is a lot right next to the store, but it gets a little confusing as there’s a school campus right next to it and a huge portion of the lot has signs saying that you can only park there if you go to the school. I don’t think we would have gotten in trouble for parking there (especially since it was the weekend!), but we didn’t want to take our chances so we kind of just… drove around until we could find somewhere to go.

There is plenty of street parking (there was when we went Friday!), but the street was closed the second time we went because of a farmer’s market. Eeek. In the end we did find a spot nearby, so it wasn’t too bad in the end.

Overall I think Mr. Matcha is a great place to check out if you’re in the area and feel a craving for matcha. Everyone we spoke with was incredibly friendly, the store was clean, and there are definitely tons of areas for photo ops – especially when no one else is around. I’ll be coming back here in the future!
